Runanga Banquet
H. E. HOLLAND HONORED
Tho complimentary farewell banquet tendered to Comrade Harry Holland took place here on Saturday, October 26, and was a largo and enthusiastic gathering. Three long tables were fairly filled, and a strong committee of ladies produced a substantial board that was good to look upon. The gathering was held under the auspices of the Runanga Socialist Party and Comrade J. Patterson presided.
During the evening Mrs. McTaggart presented Comrade Holland with a beautiful set of silver inkstands, mounted on oak, as a parting token jof esteem and appreciation for the splendid work he had clone as a lecturer ; and a propagandist in this district. He was furthermore presented with a very fine illuminated photograph of the Miners' Hal, Runanga. suitably framed ; —both of which gifts the recipient seemed to regard highly, and in returning his thanks Holland seemed to be carrying away very pleasant recollecj tions of his visit to Runanga. i During the evening several toastx-i. ' including "Our Guest," "International Socialist Party," "Federation of : Labor." "Reefton and Waihi Strikers." "M.\o!'jr,,\N-D Worker," and others wort- given. i A feature of the speeches was the ' very promising efforts made by the youthful members of the Runanea Passive Resistors —J. McTaggart. Duggan. and Nuttall. Visitors were present from Grey (including Mr. J. Desmond 1 * from C'obden, including Atkinson, and other parts of the district, and the (most of the evening can bo very sure of a warm welcome should bo ever return to these parts—BALLOT-BOX.
