REYNOLDS CASE.

FINE REDUCED. Our Christchurch bootmaker friend Reynolds was recently fined £5 and costs for displaying without an imprint a list of youths who had been jailed for refusing to comply with the Defence Act. This case was considered by a Parliamentary Committee, and discussed in the House. Mr. Witty made representations to the Minister of Justice to secure a reduction of the "fine, and it has been decided to reduce it to £1 on condition that the defendant pays the costs. A correspondent wires:— THE FEAR OF JAHL IS BREAKINC DOWN. Reynolds' fine reduced to £1, plus 9s. costs —but he is going to "take it out" —in jail, in the broad-arrowed pattern suit.
