TIMARU'S PROTEST.

525 CITIZENS DEMAND RELEASE

A petition headed "Protest" was placed before the House of Representatives on October 28 by Mr. Craigie, on behalf of 525 Timaru citizens, who call upon the Government to immediately release the Waihi miners in jail, and urge Mr. Craigie to use all his power to the same end. There was none of the usual trimming by way of respectful address or courteous expression of thahks in anticipation, but the House waived formalities, and accepted the document, passing it on to the Public Petitions Committee.
