Holland at Reefton.

CONFIDENCE IN FEDERATION

H. E. Holland visited, Reefton on October 22, and served out some mental dynamite to the residents. He was in fine form, and the subject of arbitration v. Industrial Unionism was handled. He pointed out the inequality of the representation on the Arbitration Court, and showed how the .Australian Government built on the foundation of New Zealand Acts. He traced the history of the Labor Party and showed how they had jingled Wade's legirons from north to south, east to west, and were returned with a good majority in the Federal House, also with a majority in the State House. After a short time they had released Bowling, buc had amended the N.S.W. Arbitration Act and made it worse than it was before. The speaker sent a couplo of broadsiders into the Conscription Act. He then dealti briefly with the Waihi strike and Reefton lock-out, handed out a few smart punches to tho policemen and their tricks ati Waihi, gave a few fast uppercuts to the press, and showed that notwithstanding a'l their schemes the Federation was stronger to-day than ever.

A vote of confidence in the Federation and its officers was carried with great enthusiasm.
