FRASER'S MESSAGE.
At a mass meeting of strikers on October 1 the chairman announced that the business was to appoint pickets connection with the resumption of work at Waihi, and also to hear the message of Mr. P. Fraser, a member of the F.L. Executive. Mr. Fraser said that the Federation approved of everything tho Waihi men had done, including the decision of thoso who'went to jail, and the Federation was satisfied that the mine-owners wore bent en, but would not give in. Even if the mineowners admitted defeat, the men now in jail would nave to be released before l'hc strike, would be off. The companies were getting outsiders for tho purpose of decoying the local men to leturn to work. In tho speaker**! opinion, the 500 strikers would go to jail before returning to work under existing conditions. He criticised the Commissioner of Police and the bluecoats, and added that every member cf the executive was ready to go to jail if necessary. The chairman instructed the men not to use violence. He said that the police were, only waiting for a chance cf a riot to justify their coming to Waihi. He asserted that only about three Waihi Union men were coins back to work.
