As to C. A. Collins of Waikino.
THAMES MINERS' UNION REPUDIATES WAIKINO BLACKLEGS.
Mr. J. McCbrmick, secretary Waikino branch Waihi Miners' Union, is in receipt of the following letter from the Thames Miners' Union; the Collins referred to is organising secretary of the scab concern at Waikino: —
Thames, Sept. 23, 1912. Sec. Waikino Branch W.M.U.
Dear Sir, —A person of the name of 0. A. Collins has written us stating that he has been collecting contribu-" tions on- behalf of this union from some of our old members in your district, and that it has been going on for the last 16 months. If so, he has been doing so without our knowledge and has retained in his own hands all he has collected without informing us of tho fact until the 9th inst., when he wrote to that effect. Wo originally had a branch in Waitekauri, of which Mr. Pearse Grace was steward, but this was closed in June, 1908, and the books handed over, and probably this Mr. Collins is one of the old members of that branch, and the money he has collected may be from the remnant. I hare written him instructing him to return the money to the persons he collected it from, and I wish to ask you to post up the enclosed notice so as to prevent any further mistakes.—Yours in unity,
W. H. LUCAS, Gen. Sec
