CANTERBURY BOILERMAKERS AND METAL WORKERS.

Sir,—A report appeared in The Maortland Wobkke about August 30 commenting on the metal workers' dispute at Scott Bros.' foundry, Christchurch, in which it was stated the boiler-makers were doing the work of the metal makers for nine shillings (95.) per day. My union has directed mc to communicate with you and give this statement a most emphatic denial. There are no boilermakers working in Christchurch for less than 10s. per day. In the dispute referred to the boilermakers refused to do the work of the metal workers, and for so doing were discharged from that firm.— Faithfully yours, JAS. O'BRIEN, Sec. Canterbury Boilermakers' Union.
