DRIVERS AGAINST CONTRACT.

Mr. H. Hunter, secretary of the Canterbury Olivers' Union, has written to the Prime Minister, stating that the Union wishes to record its strong antagonism to a return being made to the contract system, in carrying out the public works of the Dominion. He adds that the Union is of opinion that the co-operative system, if carried out in a proper spirit, and on a thoroughly co-operative basis, is the beat possible system.
