The Mineowners "Outed."
On Monday of last week Mr. Barry, superintendent Waihi Co., announced that the mine would open on Wednesday, October '2, and that if contractors did not resume contracts would be cancelled and other men employed.
Those "in the know" laughed at the announcement— sensationally heralded and headlined—lor they remembered that contracts had already been cancelled and that ie had been confidently proclainied that no FtxiernMonist would ever he. employed in 'Waiiii.
However, the announcement has since served W wholesale newspaper t;s Ik, and every!-hint; has been done to suy- :'<•!:■[. I hat the strike lias tollapsed.
Quilo Ltie <'onlrary is the i'att. Tho minors of Wiiilii wore never more solid.

work next Wednesday or until such time, as the Federation thinks fit."
Our Waihi correspondent, wires: "The lads are- absolutely Polid here. No scabs available. The mine-owners are 'outed,' and they know it."
Everything hns been done by amalgamated, mine-owners, employers , federation., chambers of commerce, Government, police, press, blacklegs, and renegades to break the strike —but the strike is on more determinedly than ever, and increasingly is the public supporting the strikers.
In this connection it is matter for gratification that the wonderful campaign at Auckland has been almost equalled in Wellington, which city last Sunday rose- splendidly to the occasion, and which city eclipsed all others in its reception of Organiser S«mpl«* and its cheering him mi liis dangerous path. For already it has been suggested thai Semple should he jailed. Se.mple just now is fighting as even so constant aiid magnificent a fighter never before fought. Ho cannot be heard without hearers being profoundly stirred.
In regard to Waihi, it is brave and fine that men and women are so ready to endure any indignity and infamy rather than give in.'. , A bogus union has been registered, tihe stamps have been started ('tis still the fight goes on. There has never been sounder and stronger solidarity in this Dominion. At the same time, 45 unionists are in jail in Auckland and will lie there for 12 months unless the people everywhere rise to condemn the outrage and impeach its perpetrators. Agitation is everything.
