The Three H's.

A SECRETARIAL LETTER.

H. E. Holland has done good work in Christchurch. --Although suffering from indifferent health he has always risen bo the occasion. Ho visited Dunedin on August 11 to assist tho few splendid stalwarts in that city who are keeping the red flag flying in spite of the great odds against them. We had a 'Splendidly enthusiastic meeting in the Socialist Hall on Aug. 8 to present 22 Crosses of Honor to the youths who have been imprisoned for breaking the Conscription Act. Harry Holland presented the crosses and Fred. 11. Cooke spoke on behalf of the" N.Z. S.P. E. E. Hartley arrived in Christchurch on Friday last, where he finishes the term of his engagement with the N.Z. S.P. He leaves here next month. The comrade has done splendid work since he arrived amongst us. He has ably assisted in giving a national character to our party. We have a lot to do yet, but the. work has been started. We have lost- the services of thatsplendid fighter, Robert Hogg, who goes to Australia to take the editorship of "Barrier D?ily Truth." Comrade Hogg is one of the men who helped to form the N.Z.S.P. His knowledge of the Socialist movement in the Old Land and his keen-sighted grasp of the policy of the so-called Liberal-eum-Social-ist Government enabled us to avoid many mistakes and to understand what was going to follow the unscientific administration of that Government. Robert Hogg is a splendid iconoclast; his power to break down false teachings is immense; he is an able lecturer «md teacher, and he is a good comrade. Like Robert Burns, most of us believe that "The coat is hut the guinea stamp, The man's the gold for a' that." And Robert Hogg is a man.—FRED. R. COOKE, Sec. N.Z.S.P.
