Reardon Writes.
THE TRUTH SHALL PREVAIL.
Sir—Mr. P. H. Rickey's letter from Sydney, in so far as it refers to mc, is faulty in one important particular. It is not true. In that respect, however, it does not differ, materially, from the rest of the slush that has been fired at mc through your columns. Bnt I must 1101 complain. That sort of thing is being done, I understand, in tho interests of "working-class solidarity." The end justifies the means, no doubt. —I am, etc.. Wellington, M. J. REARDON. August 8, 1912. [As far as Mr. Rickey's letter is couj corned, that is for him to justify. As far as this paper is concerned, however, we challenge, deliberately and explicitly, Mr. Reardon to indicate one untruth or even misquotation in reference to himself. We do not mind him I terming our contents "slush" —though we sadly fear Mr. Reardon is angry for other reasons—but we do insist that if ho has anything to charge us with he will be straight enough and.game enough to do it as openly as our charges against his conduct. We will not object to hearing Mr. Reardon in defence —it's his remarkable silence in the teeth of our accusations that is damning. Will he justify his letter, or, like Mr. Young and other Labor Cotuic-illors, will he be afraid ?—Ed.]
