QUESTION OF ARBITRATION

Mis Honor Mr. Justice Sim in Chambers last Friday heard an application by Mr. W. Pryor, representing the Gold-mine Owners' Association, to appoint an arbitrator in accordance with the eonditinn imposed by Mr. Warden Hewitt at Reefton on the Uth nit.

Mr. P. J. O'Regan. on behalf of the Inangahua Miners' Industrial Union of Workers, asked for an adjournment in order to enable him to file an affidavit in reply to one filed by Mr. A. Winter Evans, general manager of the Progress mines group, as )m feared that in the absence of such affidavit the. order of reference for the arbitrator might not be properly framed.

After some 'discussion, his Honor granted an adjournment until Friday, 23rd inst., Mr. O'Rcgan undertaking to procure the affidavit in the meantime.
