FEILDING SOCIALISTS.
Our Comrade R. Hogg gave a fare l - well address on Sunday evening week to a large audience. His subject was "Socialism and the Churches." He proved to the satisfaction of those present that the churches had ceased many years ago to consider the povertystricken section of the community. Socialism, the speaker declared, was out for the express purpose of abolishing once and forever tho poverty of the workers. Numbers of questions , were satisfactorily answered. A discussion followed, principally concerning the United Labor Party, one of the leading members of the organisation being present. Comrade Hogg made it quite clear that the composition of tbe Labor Party was too heterogeneous to produce success, even allowing that its leaders were sincere, which was very much open to doubt. A collection for the Waihi strikers was made, and 30s. has been forwarded to the Federation secretary.—ROß ROY.
