Printed that the Grey Valley Miners' "Union refused to make a 10 per cent, levy for tlie striking miners, but took, up voluntary subscriptions for lto-fton. The money is to be handed direct to the women and children.
Tho question of aiding the Waihi strikers came before the Wellington Operative Pakors' Union on Saturday night. June 23, and it was decided not to foiward any subscriptions, but, instead, the general see-rotary (Mr. Andrew Collins) was instructed to cable £10 to the wives and children of the London dockers.
According to Wellington "Evening Post ;: of June- 20. in terms of the application made; by tlie Reefton miners IV.-ji d'ireet assistance, on tlie grounds that V;:^ : .v trouble should not lie bracketed with the Waihi strike, tho Seamcr.'s Un-k.ii, Wellington, voted a sum ol £25. This was done unanimously ar.d distinctly on the understanding that the Federation of Labor was net concerned in tho matter. It is reported that Cm-re is dissension in the ranks it the Auckland Waterside Werkeis, The Mien. ar<> dhided into three sections-: and in the near futureit- is very likely that a ballot will be taker, oij the question of seceding from the Federation ol Labor.
