Diamond Workers' Union.

The Diamond Workers' Union in Belgium will not. allow apprentices to be taken to the trade indiscriminately. Tt strictly limits the number of workpeople, for the purpose of keeping up wages and providing continuous work for its members. A cleaver—- an accomplished worker—will earn from £4 ss. to £12 15k. a week, with an average of £8 10s. The .average wage for all workmen is about £3 10s. to £4 for good or had workmen, allowing for all classes of cutting.
