SHIP-MASTERS' AND OFFICERS' WAGES.

The recommendations of the Conciliation Council in connection with the dispute betwci n the masters and officers and larger steamship owners havo been made. Steamers of under 300 tons aro excluded entirely. The recommendation.! with respect to rales of pay are ns follow: —Master of passenger steamers —1000 tons an<l under. £20 per calendar month ; 1001 fco 2000 tons, £20; 2001 to 3000 tons, £33 ; 3001 to 4000 tons, £37; over 4000 tons, £43; masters of cargo steamers of tho same tonnages, from C 25 to £30 per calendar month; chief officers on passenger steamers, from £10 to £20 per month: second officers, from £12 to £1.7; third officers, from £11 to £14; .•wid fourth and fifth officers £10: chief officers of cargo steamers, from £10 to £18 per month : second officers. £13 to £lo; third officers, £11 to £14; and fourth and fifth officers, £10. Masters of passenger steamers and time-tabled cargo steamers nro to receive 21 days' annual leave on full sea pay, and masters nf other cargo steamers 17 days' annual leave. All officers aro to receive If days' annual leave on full sea pay, and with provision for accumulation and additional leave as an alternative to pay.
