Sir, —Allow mc a small space in your valued paper to say a few words ro tho above. In those, days wo "dear a great deal of talk ahout scabbing, or ratting, whichever ,t»-rm suits. I would like to draw your attention to tho fact that there is.no end of handy men who are ready to take the bread out of tradesmen's mouths. Is this not ratting? For instance, wo havo numbers of amateur .carpwitcrs, bootmakers, blacksmiths, etc. Now, what I want to know is this—what good is it for a man to learn a _ trade and launch out into the world to try make an honest living when ho finds that not only has he to compete against his fellow tradesmen, but also*against thoso übiquitous handy men.?— Yours, etc., TRADESMAN.
