THE LIGHT FANTASTIC.
M. Lcfort, President of the I'Y.-i-. Academy of Dancing Masters, hoi--that tho art of Ton'sichore is "a beautiful form of'physical eduction. Says ho: "People- nowadays neglect good dancing. They are wrong. VVarc encouraged to devote ourselves t<. all kinds of .sport and athletic oxer ciscs, but there is nothing so perfectly athletic as dancing. It is tho host physical education for young people that we can imagine. It i 3 the healthiest exercise, far"better than all thr* violent efforts recommended by certain advocates of sport and athletics." M. I.eforl, however, has vision* of something more than athletic perfection. ''Beautiful movements," ho declares, '-conduce to noble thoughts. A ooi-r-ei, deportwent corrects our minds. Vulvar movements lead to vulgar thoughts, which the correct dancer will avoid. The psychology of the dance should find its true expression in the physical of every movement." Evidently the art of dancing in La Relic France still represents the poetry of motion, aud has succeeded in escaping the defilement of the American "Turkey Tt>ot" and the "Grizzly Hear Hug," and knows not even the milder madness of the kitchen Lancers of Australasia.
