Fines for M.P.'s.
In 1014 the attendance of members of Parliament early and regularly was rigidly enforced. We give a few extracts from the "Fundamental Orders of tho House of Commons" :—Ordered, that this House shall sit ovcry day at 7 o'clock in the morning and enter into the great business at 8 o'clock. Ordered, that whosoever standeth in the entry of the House pay ls. presently to the sergeant. lf>4l, Ordered, that all members who come to the House after 8 o'clock shall pay us ls. If any member forbear to come for tbe whole day, !h> shall pay ss. 1G42, Ordered, that whoever shall not be at prayers every morning, shall pay ls. to the poor—a box to lie prepared and set at the door for this purpose. Ordered, that while any speaker is in the House, no member to stir out of bis place, or to speak unto another; and if any member snail whisper or cross the House, or read any printed book in the House, he shall pay Is. vito the poor-box. Sinoe 1642 dignity has said good-bye to the House.
