'Tis a curious world aJ>d full of curious people. Ono remembers the story of the old Yorkshiieman, who, speaking to his wife, said: "There's a lot of queer folk in this world; in fact, they are all queer except thee and mc —ajid thou art a bit queer at times.'' A man with 15 letters in his name, proving he is not an Irishman, says: "He took the position, after much study, that there was no country further from Socialism than New Zealand, or more backward from the standpoint of civilisation, amongst so-called civilised countries, and that also applied to Australia." One cannot but ask if there is no country further from .Socialism and more backward from the standpoint of civilisation than New Zealand, how can it also apply to Australia? Isn't Australia a country?
