The delegates to the Socialist Coil f«reneo were tendered a reception at. tho S.P. rooms on Easter SatmdaS night, when a thoroughly enjoyable evening was spent. The president ol the Wellington branch (W. Taylor) pre sided, and during tire, evening brief messages were delivered by various del» gates. A presental ion from party metr. bers was made to Comrade itoberts in recognition nf his recent marr.iago the recipient gracefully responding to Comrade Freeman's, congratulations and good wishes. In connection with the conference quite a number of .street me-eting.s were successfully hold on Saturday and Sun day evenings, and also a deinonstratiot at the Post Office Square on the Sunday afternoon. The visiting speaker! were much appreciated. tin Easter Sunday night Aid. E. It Hartley spoke to a large gathering at the Opera House, and ''made good" in the best interpretation of the phrase He held his audience from the start, and answered questions delightfully and cleverly. Air. Roberts presided conference delegates seated on ilit pl.-.lform, and brief speeches were inado by Messrs. Howard and Webb. On Sunday last Hartley spoke at the King's Theatre j and will be in Welling ton for svoral further Sundays. All should hear him.
