St. Petersburg has the reputation of being the worst city in the world for fleecing the departing guest, and yet an Australian who was recently on a visit to St. Petersburg got away from his hotel without tipping anyone. When ho encountered in the hall a lino of servants with extended hands ho seized hold of tho hands in fcurn, and expressing an earnest solicitude for tho owner's welfare, wished him farewell. But only a man who has taught himself to regard parsimony as a virtue could be capablo of such courftgeoua conduct.
