THE CAPITALIST NEWSPAPERS.
I often womlr-r why they arc called news-papers. There is nothing in the world more serious, from the point of view of the Socialist, as well as that of the aati or non-Socialist, than the enormous growth of the Socialist movement. At its present rate of growth, judging merely by its election successes, which are by no means infallible, the next quarter of a century will see the Socialists dominant everywhere. The- Yellow Peril is nothing so great and nothing ,?o dangerous, if Socialism is not true, than the. Red Peril. Yet the capitalist newspapers devoted quite a lot of space- recently to telling stories about the Emperor of Clernvany, which, if told about any Socialist, would make the. people think the Socialist was an idiot. At any rate, they would say the Socialist behaved like an Mini Why should tilings that would bo silly if someone else did them be sensible if an, Emperor does them? Above ail. wh.y should thf-y have columns of report m what svec&lkd newspapers?
