WAIHI WHIFFS.

A special meeting of the Waihi Socialist Party was held on Sunday morning, February 11, when thero was a large attendance. Matters .in connection with the Easter Conference wore keenly discussed, and several remits have been forwarded to tho National Executive. Comrade Peter Eraser has been appointed president, and Comrade W. Thompson vice-president for tho ensuing 12 months. Comrade Dye was reelected as secretary. Our Sunday school has become the topic of much discussion locally. At last Sunday's roll call no fewer than .5(1 children responded. This is very gratifying indeed to those comrades who have been and are still working hard for the children's sake. The usual fortnightly social was hold on February 9, and success once more attended our efforts. The female comrades aro working well, displaying that energy and enibunasm which makes for success. What with the women and children working bard, as well as their sterner brothers, the Day of Freedom is being brought much closer. Comrade Hartley commenced his engagement with the local party by addressing a crowded house on Sunday week, lv» subject being "Socialism and Oonimonsonso." Tho speaker received quite an ovation on ridug to speak, and his remarks wero frequently applauded. Comrade Hartley is a past master in the art of illustration, and ono of the most pleasing features of his addresses, aro the humorous, yet withal keenly'logical and to the point illustrations. A number of very important and interesting questions were answered satisfactorily. The orchestral items were rendered in a most capablo manner, and during the evening a visitor very nicely sang "Hocked in the Cradle of the Deep."-TIIE'REBEL.
