GREATER EFFICIENCY NEEDED.
Certainly. All Socialists will agree to our people being made more efficient. In fact, Socialism means to make every citizen efficient. But when Mr. Wiseman "Herald" declares that in making our present workmen efrfcfi ent —"in that alone industrial snlvaticJr will be found" —ono is reminded of his statement about an elementary knowledge of economics. If the present workers were made doubly efficient, and the present output of wealth doubled, the industrial salvation of tho workers would be further off than at present, unless at the same time wo prevented tho shirkers taking two-thirds of the product of tho workers.
As much increased efficiency as possible when the workers get tho wealth the workers produce, but not increased efficiency for the sake of increased exploitation.
