WATERSIDE WORKERS.
Sir,—A conference is about to take tolace at Wellington on Jan. 10. May I make a, suggestion to the delegates Bheroi It is this: "Any waterside ikrorkcr who has been unemploj'od the previous week shall in the current peek, have preference of engagement bn idl jobs ottering." This would get kid c. f favoritism and boycotting of men fts well, and stevedores would soon teoicc to their senses, when a dead iland-ofl met them right ahead. My fellow-worker, Gould, of Timaru, might fcee thut isuch a (iause is embodied in fehe new conditions. —Yours, etc., Lvtk'ltcn. W. W. COMPTON.
