AUSTRALASIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Australasian Amateur Athletic Cliampionships, contested at Wellington on Decenior 26 and 27, resulted in a splendid win for Now Zealand, the position at the conclusion being as follows :— Firsts. Throw hammer Q N.Z. N.Z. It will be seen that New Zealand was placed in every event, gaining, besides ten firsts, eight seconds and six thirds, while it was placed fitst and second in five events. The total number of places (firsts, seconds, and thirds) gained by the competing States were:— New Zealand 24 New South Wales 8 Victoria 7 Quoenslnnd '. 3 Tasmania 1 The New Zealanders who won championships were: — Opie: 100 yds, 220 yds, 440 yds. Hill: One and three-mile flat. Keddell: 120 and 440 yds hurdles. Harding: 880 yds flat. Winners from Australia were: — Kolly (Vie.): High jump. McGrath (Q.): Putting shot, throwing hammer. Brake (Vie.): Pole vault. Southce (N.S.W.): Long jump.
