SOME QUERIES.

Dear Sir, —The 'Federation of Labor oi N.Z. geta much m'isr-eprpsentation

by antagonistic leaders of other organisations, such as the Trades and Labor Council of New Zealand, and also by the man Mills from the land of trusts and sighs. They try to prejudice the workers against the Federation of Labor by telling them (the workers) that the'membership of the Trades and Labor Council.is in the majority to that of the Federation of Labor. They seem to forget that all the different social forces had a beginning. The Trades and Labor Council has been in existence, I think, somewhere about 16 years, and the Federation of Labor was in its embryonic stage of development three years ago. Our opponents seem to scoff at the Federation of Labor for springing into existence on account of its membership being in the minority. It would be very interesting if you could quote figures for the following questions and enumerate them separately : — (1) How many members had the Trades and Labor Council in their ranks after their first three_ years of existence, and compare their figures with the Federation for the first three years of their existence? (2) . How many members are there who have joined the Federation of Labor within this last twelve months? (%) How many members are there who have joined the Trades and Labor Council within this last twelve months? (4) Row many unions or branch union* have withdrawn from the Feder i>n of Labor within this last twelve m< , ! !s? ('■■' How many unions or branch xi ii i. i. have withdrawn from thtTrac ' nnd Labor Council within this last t ?4ve months? . '■ t the rate of increase for the hvel • months, how long will it be bee orp the Federation is equal to the Trade? and Labor Council in membership ? —Yours, Puponga. :■...; A. SHEEROCK.
