According to Mr. W. T. Young, secretary of the Wellington branch of the Federated Seamen's "FJnion, the telegram from Duiiedin intimating that the ballot taken by the federation on the question of withdrawal from under the scope of the Arbitration Act resulted in a majority being opposed to eucli action, is entirety incorrect and misleading. The actual result, said Mr. Young, is that the Dunedin branch voted thus: 450 in favour of withdrawal and 5 against; Wellington, 572 in favour and 29 against; Auckland, 167 for and 96 against. This voting represents a majority of members of each branch being in favour of the secession from the Act, the net result being : For secession, 1189; against 130.
