THE WAY OUT.
insecurity is the inevitable aocom-panim-e-nt of capitaHsJft. No worker is sure of his livelihood, for he is not sure of his job. With industry organised so as to secure private profits, capitalism "cannot give security. Then as the prices of commodities can always be adjusted so as to return to the capitalists any advance in wages, the worker is always under what lias been called the Iron Law of Wag«s, which says ' 'that wages always tend to the bare subsistence level." The or>3y way out of these ridiculous obditions is Socialism. Because — . Under Socialism, society will .own the land, and there will be no rent to pay. Under Socialism, society will own the tools of production, and there will b>9 no interest to pay.. Under Socialism, society, acting through those who are engaged in any industry (and who will know most about such, and not through private shareholders, both absent and ignorant) will "manage production, and thore will be no profits to pay* • Under Socialism! whoever sharea in the division of. the oroduefcs will share
because he is or is to be, or has beea*: a producer —ajtid no other; unless fch«E victims of disabling misfortune, what will b© abundantly cared for, bub with* out tli© shame of pauperism. Under Socialism, because of betted organisation and lack of w-aste, a shorter working day will secure ai greater product and therefor© greater wealth to be enjoyed individually ana socially. ' Under Socialism, with ample leisure and the best of ediicative facilities, culture will be within the reach of all, and ignorance" will be unknown. Under Socialism, the human race will enter a new phase of development, enabling the beat of our nature to gi&K and the worst to die out. Workers, does this Socialism iiitetK est you? It is your matter, for you are_ in,, bha great majority, and its realisation de* pends upon you. . . ..".'
