A meeting of the Springeton branoh of the ■.'Canterbury Yirm lAbereri 1 " Union was held. ia%t e*twrd!*y > week, Mr. S. Douglas was in the chair. The secretary (Mr. Kennedy) dealt with die coming; amalgamation with the Waimate Workers' Union, also -with '.he case coming before the Court. It was stated by members that the local authorities were paying their men inly 5s 6d and 6s a day. The Federaion of Labor was discussed at considerable length, favourable opinions being generally expressed. Unfinancial memtors present renewed, and arrangements were made to' blave the- district thoroughly organised. Ail handß took '■Workers. ,, —C. ISAACSON.
