THE FEDERATION OF LABOR.
Sir,- I—The1—The little Federation that saw the light at Runanga such a short time ago has quite cast off its swaddling clothes now. It has grown and grown until what was G.ood enough at the beginning, when the Federation was small, won't do now. First and foremost, Semple has too much work to do. .No man can live the strenuous life he has been living lately and last. This movement owes everything to Robert Semple, and it is the duty of the Federation to appoint men to assist him— (one in the Nortli and one in the South. Semple himself should reside in Wellington, and have clerical assistance 1 ; and after Christmas he should be made take a long holiday. No ' doubt with the acquisition of the watersiders, tramwaj'nien and others it will be found necessary to remove the headquarters to Wellington, where the official organ is published, and at next election we will probably have fresh blood, as the movement has clearly outgrown Runanga. Every credit is due to the_ pioneers of the movementj and if Hiekey and Webb get returned —and Webb has a mighty big show —it will be a triumph for the Federation. Again, Sir, it is not fair that Semple should have to face the hard West Coast journey every time he wants to see his family, and I suggest _ that a house be bought for him in Wellington, for he well deserves it. —I &m, etc., < MEMBER OF THE FEDERATION.
