taking part in the strike. -About 700 men were present at the meeting, and, after the agreement had been fully discussed, it Avas accepted unanimously. Much 'enthusiasm was aroused by the stirring speeches of Robert Semple, P. Eraser and H. M. Fitzgerald.
The men resumed Avork on Wednesday morning.
Some little friction arose on Wednesday through the action of the Re~ muera and Mt. Eden Borough Councils in not reinstating all the-men. It was found, hoAvever, that this was due to the Avorks being curtailed through lack of funds. Some of the men Avho' went back balloted for the jobs, ami the Council wired to Sir Joseph Ward for money to carry on the work, so that all the men might be taken, back. Now that these matters have been arranged the agreement .seems to be working satisfactorily.—T.B.
