GERMAN IMPRESSIONS OF LONDON LIFE.

A representative of the "Berliner Tageblatt' has been observing the "man in the strreet" in London, and the "Daily Express" publishes some of his impressions, including the* following : —"The London population does not look as if it were particularly .well nourished. After a time, a warm-blood-ed man, located. in this cold atmosphere, becomes somewhat automatic in. his daily habits. One enters a ;restaurant and one sits down at a table without taking any notice of-cone's neighbour. One orders a- meal, treads the°papor, eats, and pays, all with the regularity of a machine. Slowly but surely one loses the feeling of being a man among other men. It is extraordinary how many ugly girls are to be seen in London. How many pretty faces .and how many charming figu'cs one oan see in Berlin wherever large masses of people are collected in the streets. But in London one seldom sees a pretty face and never a charming figure. Of course, the ladies who ride in Hyde Park look most attractive, but- if the girls of the middle and lower classes were compared in London and Beniin, I feel sure that the Comparison would bo very much to the of BiwHa. ,?
