Donald MacDonell Dead.

—__ —. -"' ■ —- SYDNEY, Oct. 26. Mr. Donald MacDonnell, M.L.A. _for Cobar, and Chief Secretary of 'New South Wales, who had been ill for some time-, is dead. Mr. MacDounell-'s death is regretted as a great blow to the Labor movement. . The Assembly met this afternoon, find adjourned "as a mark of respect. Members on boh sides expressed deep regret at his death. Mr. MacDonnell was generally considered the. most popular and one of the most able members. Besides being State Chief Secretary, he was general secretary of the Australian Workers' Union (the shearers), the biggest union in the Commonwealth. MELBOURNE, Oct. 26 The Federal caucus was sitting when the news of Mr. MacDonnell's death arrived, and immediately adjourned as a mark of respect.
