BREWERS HAVE TOO MUCH POWER.
Sir, —I say Yes most emphatically, and give a, few reasons for belief. The brewers have too much power in the government at present. They also have money made in the liqtuor traffic largely invested in other industries. As they are uot with us, they aire against us.
It also keeps enslaved. It dulls their perceptions, and through its influence they are beguiled from following tlie right path for their own welfare. It is used largely at elec* tion tiraos with this motive. It is a. most profitable trade that only a fow can engage in. It has special advantages such as trading in hours when other businesses are compelled to slnit* At best, it is a degrading trade, and at its doors can be laid the downfall and consequent misery and suffering or countless millions of useful workers who at all times and in. all lisitione have been the salt of the β^rtii.,.
