A CONTRADICTION.
Bear Sir,—ln your iasuc hay 29, 1911, in a column headed tical Pellets/ you Itavo a short Foll&t on one Durbridge, as an individual who exists in Nelson, ami claim a from the public platform that there is too much J educatkui. Now, Sir, 1 do not irriiul fair play, but wliou you start to xiaa absolute" falsehoods, I think it is unfair and not to bo expected from a paper that claims to be the workers' frie.iicl. I am living as honourable as you, Sir, or an yon o belonging to you; and for reference 1 would rof-or to one Bat Hiok-ey, who knows m* very -coll. Regarding the word '"'freak/ , which you make use of, I am no more a freak than you or any of yours—perhaps not so much. In short, Sir, such remarks were never used by mc at any one of my meetings, and I only ajsk that you publish the truth, and, for your information, Sir, I am having real good meetings, splendid attendance*, and at-;
tentive hearings; and should I be returned for the Motueica electorate and Pat for Ohiiicm'uri, there is one thing certain —that the workers of N.Z. will have two men \vho will stand shoulder to shoulder in interests. Now, Sir, play the game fair and I won't worry any more about you. Speak the truth, and I won't tremble. Awaiting your reply, yours respectfully, F. H. DURBRIDGIS. Wakefield, Oct. 13. (The "Pellet" in question was based upon the report of a meeting addressed by Mr. Durbridge in Stanley Brook, whiclh .appeared in a Nelson paper. Personally, Aye 'are glad to know that Mr. Durbridge did not make use of the statement attributed to him. The person who would say such a thing is undoubtedly a freak. —Ed.)
