Unity Scheme.
THEODORE DEBS' OPINION.
Jack Harris, of Auckland, writes that he forwarded a copy of Professor Mills' "unity" scheme to. Eugeno V. Debs, and is in receipt of the following reply: — Terre Haute, laid., U.S.A., August" 24, 191.1. Mr. Jack Harris, Auckland, N.Z. My Dear Comrade, —Your two letters, with 'enclosures, addressed to my brother at Gira-rd, have been forwarded hero, as he has not been there for several months. Answering, I have to say that my brother is absent, having been compelled on account of overwork to abandon his duties for a time to give himself a chance to recuperate. He has been speaking daily and nightly in the incense heat of the past few months, aaid the demands of all kinds have been so great upon his 'time that he came near being brought to the point of exhaustion. In the matter of the circular enclosed by you,, issuer! by Walter Thomas Mills, I am utterly surprised, and I do not wonder that your comrades have nothing to do with the scheme proposed. 1 am forwarding this circular to the- "Appeal to Reason," that Comrade Warren may be advised of its contents, I have not now the time for comment, nor is it necessary since your comrades evidently clearly understand the situation and how to deal with it. Earnestly hoping that everything may come out all right and that you and your comrades may have all success in your work, I remain, yours fraternally, THEODORE DEBS, .
