And found whe-ru 'twas over he liad dug a ton,- ■ " • And he pointed proudly to what he had won, •• t Even as yen and 1. Ho brought th© coal to the light of day, , . Even as you and I. He listened in earnest and heard the boss say, I'll give you a> scuttle full for your pay, ■ . Even as you and I. And it wasn't tho work, and it wasn't the sweat that made the fellow sore ; It was digging a ton and getting a lump, That in ado him say, "I'm a great big ciiravnp," So what did k& cb wfc«ai th« truth he Even as you and I Vfh.y, he went right back to his hole in tho ground, •■ And dug out a ton and got a pound, Fven as you and i And it isn't the rich bug that makes us mad, - ' And fume and fret and sighIt's the goi darned fool that dug that hole, '.;" And keeps on voting to dig. the coal, For a vampiro that don't give a d foo- his soul, ' - j£v©n as -ypn ani I*
