TO REMOVE STAINS.
To remove stains apply a little marble cream made as follows: —Two ounces washing soda, loz precipitated whiting and loz pumices-bone powder. Pound in a iuortar or crush with a rolling pin ; then moisten with sufficient toiling water to make the mixture of the consistency of cream.. Apply with a small brush, and leave to dry". Wash oil' Avi'h. hot water, dry, and polish. ! he mixture should be kept in a well-corked botle.
"Mops."—There are various appliances oil the market for Avasbing floors without kneeling. The old-fashioned mop is not greatly improved upon, except that in some of the hcav devices a scrubber is used in the case of boards but for stone floors and tiles the mop supersedes all other appliances. It has the advantage of being exceedingly cheap, and very simple to use.
