GRANITY MINERS' UNION.
ANNUAL MEETING: The annual meeting of the Granity Coalminers' Union Avas held in Milleriton, J. Newman, President, in the *"chair. There Avas a large attendance. It has been noticeable that the monthly meetings of late have been -well attended'by the rank and file, a healthy sign of unionism attributable : to the influence of the N.Z. Federation of; Labor and "The Maofilaiid-' Worker": infusing new life and a'sehse of the responsibility of each individual. The following officers wer/j elected:—Treasurer, J. Hendry; ; ' secretary, C. Hall; auditors, J. Gilbert and; FY A. Smith; committee, A; BroadfOot, F. Grant and C. Dalton.; For the position "of President J. NeAvman and J. Dowgray were nominated. A ballot-was taken throughout the mine ,with the folloAving result■';.—Dowgray, 284; 'New-man; 168;' majority for DoAvgray, 116. " . According to a resolution passed creating a neAV office of Vice-president,', with a stipulation that the defeated candidate undertake such' office, J. NeAvman is now Vice--p'reside'nt : .' .
