Our Candidates.
JOHN ROBERTSON, FOR OTAKI. Mr. John Robertson is the selected candidate for Otaki of the progressiA'e M-ariawatu Flaxmillers' Union, which union has decided by an majority to join the New' Zealand Federation of Labour. Before he came to New Zealand, John had an excellent record in the British movement. He Avon his spurs in the Wishaw 1.L.P., and was a co-worker of Bob Smillie (president Scots Miners' Federation) and Bob Small; of ■ Blantyre S.D.F. In- New Zealand our subject has strengthened his record. Among other posts' AAeightily filled by him-is the secretaryship of the Wellington Dairy Workers' Union. No' man" could kvo done more for this organisation than John Robertson has ' done.
_: Not long since he made an organising tour of , the Taranaki district, and knoAA's as feAV know the ins-and-outs of the dairying industry, not only of the Taranaki district, but of NewZealand" as a Avhole. Many of our readers will remember Mr. Robertson's shrewd and scathing article in The Worker on the dairying industry and the AA-orkers' conditions therein. That article was " a service to the AA'orking-class. The Otaki Avorkers' candidate is a strong. Industrialist ■ and courageous Socialist, and has marshalled an array of evidence concerning arbitration that tells of industry, ability, and formidableness. He is the man for the men of the Otaki electorate, and obviously a thinker, he will in Parliament be a doer of note. . As one qualified forjudge has already printed: "A good speaker, ready debater, and incisive logician, NeAv Zealand should hear more' of him in. the future." Rally round John Robertson! ~
