RATIONALISM WANTED.
Dear Worker, —Pardon an old Rationalist if he points out one of the greatest stumbling blocks to unity and progress. 1 reter to religion, and after nearly 50 years' experience here in iNiew Zealand 1 axhrm that priestcraft is one of liabor's most deadly foes because by the terrific hold that so-called pastors have of the female branch of humanity. The husband must blindly follow the wife or the children will be eternally damned. I need not labor the point: it is evident here and the world over; and I know from local experience that more workers would become industrial Unionists only that the glib tongued sky pilot has put it forth that we Socialists aim at the overthrow of home ties, the downfall of religion, and class war. I would not ask you to publish this scrawl only it would be a move in the right direction if Rationalism were more oftener defined and its beauties placed before all in such a lucid style that all could understand. IS one need fear that when Reason really guides us that superstition or the fear of an imaginary future will -bar any from seeking those rights that all are entitled to—Equity, Justice and Brotherhood. Wishing you success in your noble efforts in the cause of humanity.—Yours, etc., Rotherham. JOSEPH GREY.
