In the Waikato.
On July 4 was held a well attended meeting of the Waikato Miners' Union. J. Fulton, president, occupied the chair. During the week iu 1 .. c had been a Wholesale issue of dismissal notices. Discrimination was evidenced, which was strongly resented by the 'Union. A deputation was elected to interview the manager and place beiore him the demand that our comrades be reinstated. The three shift system mentioned in last notes was dealt with in the following resolution:' "Thart in future members of the Union refrain fro.n volunteering to work at three shift place upon the coal," Carried unanimously. The Library Committee met on Saturday week last. The concert, returns were to hand which were considered highly satisfactory. There was £7 10s at the disposal of the committee after defraying expenses. It was decided to buy a ishare in the Co-oper-ative Publishing Housie, Ghas. H. Kerr and Co., Chicago. A list of books was compiled dealing chiefly with : Philosophy, Sociology, and Industrial Unionism. . ,n There appeared a letter m our local paper dealing with the Chairman of the School Committee, J. E. Duncan, praying against his disloyality. Comrade Duncan has caused considerable commotion in certain circles in connection with his .attitude condemning the Coronation cant. In reply he says: "I know no flag but the Red Flag, No Empire but the "Wide "World, No King but the honest man, No Church but Humanity, And No Master 1" BILLY BANJO.
