Queensland's Sugar Barons.

Albert Johnson, late of Waihi, writes from Bundaberg of the conditions obtaining in the sugar industry m Queensland. The position is very acute there at the present time. The workers in the canelieids have held a conference with the employers, no decision being arrived at. The wages are at a starvation level, and the hours long. Despite this fact, the cane-growers refuse to alter the conditions which obtain. An effort is being made to secure scabs from neighbouring States. and Now Zealand, presumably by obscuring the fact that labor conditions there are such that all union men are in revolt against them. New Zealand workers, take heed and keep away from Queensland. . The Sydney Labour Council is issuing a circular appealing for funds for tho Queensland sugar-strikers. It states that a prolonged struggle is expected. Over 2,000 men are affected.
