Meat Monopoly.
J. E. Chamberlain, of Waihi, writes in reference to tne meat monopoly, suggesting that some action on the part of tne Government is necessary. Through the ring Avhich he says exists, the smaller t butchers are compelled to foiloAV tho lead of the larger nrms or bo crushed out. Consequently, while some firms are adverse to tne increased price of moat, they are compelled to raise it or have their supply of cattle cut off. Our correspondent is of opinion that if the late rr&nuer's idea or meat depots Avas established the ring would be broken doAvn and that the workers \A r ould benefit considerably thereby.
