Contract in Westralia.
Grwalia Miners' Union Ls talking; .seriously of putting; tip a fig;ht against tlie underground contract system (says "Barrier Daily Truth"). Men at Kalgjoorlie would* do the same, but they fear that their action might lead to a strike. Mine-owners and managers would do well to hear in mind that these men who lead the unions of the fields have a g;reat responsibility and power, and that they have all along; used the power discreetly. The companies would do well to now and then come forward with some much-needed reforms instead of waiting; till things are squeezed out of them. One necessary reform would be to at least ease oft with the contracting; underground. It will have to be done sooner or later, and the companies m ; .ght as well -et gracefully in the circumstances.
