AMALGAMATION.
D-ear Worker,— J . Tow risen d, of Blenheim, finds fault with my remarks upon the suggested amalgamation between the Federation of Labour an<l the Trades Councils. With all duo deference to Mr Townsend, I .submit, that if he grasped the fundamental principles of industrial Unionism and Socialism he would at once see the impossibility of the two organisations mutually agreeing by each side '-giving way.' . Once the Federation "gives way" upon the principles of industrial "Unionism it ceases to be the organisation winch was brought into existence by tho industrialists, whose place will bo OUTSIDK endeavouring to give ex-pr-ession to their belief in some- other organised brxly. A penny pamphlet upon industrial L monism could be read with profit by a considerable number of critics.—-1 am, etc., l>. H. HICKKV.
