Runanga Echoes.
There are 234 children on the school roll and they are crowded into a space about sufficient for 150. Thus the school committee's report: "Your committee beg to place on record their high appreciation of the as--eistance given them during the year by the householders of the district and., in conclusion, beg to call your attention to the dilatoriness of the Government re the over-orowded condition of th« school. It is now more than eighteen months since this question was placed before them, but it appears that what with purchasing Dreadnoughts, considering compulsory military training schemes, and visiting the Coronation, they have neither the time or money to spare on a question of such non-im-portance- a.s facilitating the education
of the children of the Runanga district. At the close of the anti-militarist meeting Mr. Semple informed the audience that, after paying expenses the sum of £4 4s had been collected which would he forwarded to London by the Grey "Star" to the Freeh Air Fund which would enable the poor waifs of London to have a trip into the country, permitting them at least to be well fed for one day and bringing one little ray of sunshine into their lives.
