NEW ZEALAND'S ECONOMIC INSTITUTION. UNPREJUDICED OPINIONS OF LEADING PAPERS. The Sydney "Bulletin."'on commenting on the "Wholesale Club in its issue of the 23rd March., says :•—"There is a, big profit in trading, and if a thousand families agree to get their goods from one store, that store can obviously worlc at. a very low expense rate (since it doesn't have to chase business) and the bloated profits go back to the customers who provide the'in. The theory is sound to the core." Incidentally there are nearer 'MOO families (equalling at least 6000 persons) dealing , at the Club now than 1000 fami-: lies. The folio wilier is quoted from the "Draper of Australasia ,, (February 27th), a trade review of high standing:—"Mr. Alexander Owen, late of Strange and Co.. Ltd., Christchurich, has been appointed General Manager of the Wholesale Club, Christchurch, an institution of recent date, formed, as stated by the promoters, if or the supply to members at wholesale prices, "drapery,-" clothing, boots, crockery, furniture, meat, and other necessary items of domestic economy, etc. The qualification, fo-r membership consists in a payment of 10s per annum. The organisers appear to have met with considerable success, and claim to have successfully established a new system of trading in Christchurch. . Extensive premises have been, secured, in Manchester Street, ,and these are to be opened at an 1 early date. ,,
